Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils, rinsed and soaked for 2 hours
  • 1/2 cup cooked peas
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers (red or yellow)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach
  • 3 tbsp Root-Free | Umami Thai Chilli Basil Sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil (optional, if available)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare Lentils: Drain and rinse the soaked lentils. In a food processor, blend lentils until you have a coarse mixture (not completely smooth).
  2. Prepare Patties Mixture: In a bowl, mix the blended lentils with cooked peas, bell peppers, spinach, Root-Free | Umami Thai Chilli Basil Sauce, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, paprika, and salt.
  3. Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small patties or discs.
  4. Cook Patties: Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Serve: Serve hot with a side of yoghurt or as a snack.
